Deep-drawing

01.

Cold deep-drawing: from flat sheet metal to the three-dimensional body.

Deep-drawing is a sheet metal forming process that transforms a flat surface into a three-dimensional body – cylindrical, conical, square, or polygonal – through a progressive and controlled cold forming. Unlike shearing, it does not involving removing material: the metal is formed without cuts, keeping its original mechanical features intact. It is a precise and repeatable machining process, ideal for hollow components with three-dimensional geometries to be produced in large volumes.

In our departments we make metal products by drawing, controlling every step of the process. We design and build in-house the moulds, which are maintained and regularly checked by experienced technicians. Furthermore, each production starts from a shared sampling with the customer in order to ensure a production for third parties that is in line with the demand , always ensuring top quality.

Is metal deep-drawing the right option for you?

When to choose it

Cold deep-drawing is the right choice when the component requires a hollow three-dimensional shape, with uniform thickness and geometry that cannot be achieved through conventional machining.

It is particularly suitable when:
  • The component is hollow cylindrical or polygonal-shaped
  • Material thickness continuity is required
  • Production volumes are high and recurrent
  • The goal is to avoid removing material
  • The geometry is compatible with a progressive deformation

What can be obtained with it

The deep-drawing of the sheet metal allows to produce hollow metal components with three-dimensional geometries upon order, always starting from the customer’s drawing and with certified quality.

Some parts that can be obtained by deep drawing:
  • Cylindrical bodies and capsules
  • Metal containers and casings
  • High depth elements
  • Components for cosmetics
  • Three-dimensional design details

Materials, batches and technical specifications.

In deep-drawing, material selection is a critical step in the process: the features of the metal directly affect the feasibility of deformation and the quality of the end component. During the co-design stage we evaluate with the customer the most suitable material, taking into account the geometry of the piece and its purpose of use.
